Frequently asked questions
Is Cyfer end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. Messages, conversations, and files are end-to-end encrypted so only intended participants can access content.
What is quantum-safe encryption?
Quantum-safe encryption uses algorithms built to resist quantum computer attacks, protecting your data as technology advances.
Is Cyfer quantum-safe?
Yes. Cyfer uses NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptography (ML-KEM for key establishment and ML-DSA for signatures) in full or hybrid mode with classical algorithms, so conversations captured today cannot be decrypted later by a quantum computer. Cipher suites can be updated as standards evolve.
What encryption does Cyfer use?
Cyfer uses Messaging Layer Security (MLS, RFC 9420) for end-to-end encryption with full or hybrid post-quantum cipher suites combining NIST ML-KEM with X25519 or P-256, and ML-DSA for signatures. Real-time media is protected with SFrame (RFC 9605). The server never holds decryption keys.
Can Cyfer be deployed on-premises?
Yes. Cyfer runs as containers on Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes for on-premises or private-cloud deployment, or as a managed multi-tenant cloud service. The same governance policies apply in every deployment model.
Can external vendors join without creating risk?
Yes. External users are added into project-scoped workspaces with granular permissions, data boundaries, and automatic expiration.
Does anyone ever have access to my private keys?
No. Each device you register with Cyfer generates its own private keys locally and Cyfer’s servers never see them. Every device is a separate member of the MLS group with its own key material, so compromising one device never exposes another. MLS group keys also rotate periodically for extra protection.
Is Cyfer a replacement for Slack Connect or Microsoft Teams shared channels?
Cyfer is purpose-built for cross-company collaboration where Slack Connect and Teams shared channels fall short on end-to-end encryption, data ownership, and on-premises control. Each external relationship gets a project-scoped workspace with granular permissions, retention policies, and automatic expiration.
How is Cyfer different from Slack or Teams?
Cyfer is purpose-built for secure digital workspaces that extend across companies with cross-company governance, E2EE, and on-premises options.
Who makes Cyfer?
Cyfer is developed by Daylight Vision, Inc., a company founded in 2023, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and focused on quantum-safe secure communication.
